Frequently Asked Questions
-
You need a valid CBT certificate plus either a UK provisional or full car licence. If you hold a full motorcycle licence (category A1, AM or above) your CBT requirement is already covered.
You will also need proof of address dated within the last 3 months, a £200 refundable deposit, and you must be aged 18 or over.
-
Yes. Insurance is separate from your rental cost. We recommend coming in to see the bike first — if you're happy with it, you can arrange your own policy and we'll help you get the best possible quote based on how you'll use the bike (commuting or delivery work). We only accept monthly or annual policies. Temporary cover is not accepted.
-
If your full car licence (category B) was issued before 1 February 2001, you automatically have entitlement to ride a 125cc moped. If your licence was issued after that date, you will need to complete a Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) course and hold a valid CBT certificate before riding on public roads.
-
All our mopeds are regularly serviced and maintained. We inspect each bike between rentals. If you ever experience a mechanical issue during your rental, contact us immediately and we will resolve it as quickly as possible.
-
Absolutely. Just let us know before your rental period ends and we will arrange an extension, subject to availability.

A monthly London Travelcard (Zones 1–2) costs around £165/month — but you're still subject to delays and fixed routes. Our NMAX V1 at £70/week gives you door-to-door travel on your schedule. For delivery riders working with Uber Eats, Deliveroo or Stuart, the rental cost is typically covered within one or two days of earnings. Compared to buying, a used NMAX starts at £2,000+ plus insurance, MOT and servicing. With KB Hire, all maintenance is our responsibility.
-
Our weekly rental rates are:
Yamaha NMAX 125 V1 — £70/week
Yamaha NMAX 125 V2 (Keyless) — £80/week
A £200 refundable deposit is required. Minimum rental period is one month.
-
Our minimum period keeps costs low for you. Short-term rentals involve significantly more admin, cleaning, and turnaround work which would push prices up. By committing to a month you get a much better weekly rate — and most of our riders find they want to stay on longer once they experience the freedom of riding.
-
No. The weekly rate is what you pay. You are responsible for fuel and your own insurance. A refundable security deposit is required at the start of your rental. Any damage beyond fair wear and tear may be charged at the end of the rental period — full details are set out in your Rental Agreement.
-
No. We do not run any credit checks. You simply need a valid licence or CBT certificate, proof of address, and your £200 refundable deposit to get started.
